The scenographer, photographer and ceramic artist Flavia Horat has been 'building' images for almost 20 years; staging, inspiring and creating her own worlds and stories.
Under the label Horat Keramik, Flavia Horat works with the medium of clay and develops and produces ceramic objects as part of commissioned works or self-motivated creations.
Her work combines functionality with sculptural aesthetics. Horat ceramics are solid in material and form, surprising and playful in color.
To date, Horat has developed five product families, within which she continues to research and create.
“What drives me? - Shapes, colors and image compositions that tell a story and conjure up a sparkle and a smile” - Her understanding of her work is rooted in her passion for ‘the image’, image composition and the story it tells.
Flavia Horat lives and works in Zurich. In summer she works in her summer studio in the countryside surrounded by meadows and woods.
She studied film at the HFF and FU-Berlin and scenography at the Kunsthochschule Zürich.
